A woman said that she was happy with her boyfriend, but recently he’s developed an unhealthy hatred for Chris Pratt and would go on hour-long rants about how terrible the actor is
A woman said that she was thinking about leaving her ‘perfect’ boyfriend – because he hates Chris Pratt too much.
Sharing her story anonymously, the woman said that she had been with her partner for three years and they were very happy together – but recently a problem had developed.
She said that he had become irate about Chris Pratt, and hated the actor so strongly that he would go on hour-long rants about how terrible he is.
The woman said that the problem reached a new height when her boyfriend discovered that the actor would star in the new Mario movie, and his reaction was so severe that she was now considering leaving him.
Taking to Reddit, the woman said: “My boyfriend’s unhealthy hatred of Chris Pratt is affecting our relationship.
“We have dated for years and he is so sweet and innocent. However, the one thing I can’t stand is how much he talks about hating Chris Pratt.
“He hated him in Parks and Recreation and even more in Guardians of the Galaxy. Any mention of him always brings him in a bad mood and that’s why he refuses to watch movies like Jurassic World, Lego Movie, and onward.”
Things went from bad to worse for the woman when the new animated Super Mario Bros film was announced, and it emerged that Chris Pratt would be the voice of the Italian plumber.
She continued: “He is a huge Nintendo fan and was looking forward to the Mario movie.
“When he heard Chris Pratt would be voicing Mario though he had a tantrum where he ended up breaking his Switch as a result.
“I tried to calm him down but he childishly accused me of supporting Chris Pratt (I don’t have a strong opinion of him either way) and ordered me to leave once I did not agree with his rants.
“This seems so much like a minor thing but I’m not sure if this is a healthy environment to be in. He’s sweet on other topics but I’m not sure if I can deal with this behaviour anymore.”
After sharing her story online, other Reddit users were quick to offer advice to the woman.
One said: “There’s some sort of mental health issue going on here. This isn’t normal, but it is so out there and out of place otherwise that there has to be some sort of underlying condition.”
And another added: “My uncle used to go on hour-long rants about trivial shit too, but he was bipolar and it was a facet of his illness.
“Your boyfriend’s behaviour might be more understandable if he were struggling with some mental health issues.
“He either needs to figure out why this is such an intense issue for him and sort it out or stop talking about it entirely before he ruins his relationship.”
